In the race total 91 boats are participating. It will be 628 nautical mile race – and it is going to be difficult amide rain. The concern is more for two internationals Australian yachts that were purchased by British yachtsman Richard Stain and Swede Jonas Grander. Both have their yacht, Samskara and Matador sight unseen. Both are preparing their yacht from past two days amid downpour.
Before the race news has also come up saying Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race is going to have a team all of indigenous crew. They will race under the name of “Tribal Warrior”. They will create history by being the first indigenous entry in the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. However, authorities of Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race said, “This is not the case; entry of race gets closed in October.
For 2016 year race last entry was made on 20 October. The Cruising YC of Australia did not receive any such entry till last time. Thus, there is no question of any such team participating in the event. It could be possible they want to do it in 2017 event and information was taken mistakenly.”
The Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race start will be telecast live on the Seven Network. It will done all over Australia.
Authorities said “Preparation for the race has been done since the end of organizers. Now, participants are busy in training and giving final touch to their boats. Like every year this year will also witness huge crowds of sailing lovers and the event will be a big success for sure.”
