The Laser medal series was one of the top headlining acts as 10 of world’s best sailors took the stage for the on-water fight for podium finish. The Oakville native showcased composure and confidence all week accomplishing ‘Plan A’ on medal race day as well as including another 1st for Parkhill this year – a medal race win as well as fifth spot finish at Pre-Olympic regatta.
Back on home turf, the Sail Canada arranged the Youth Championships at the CORK Kingston with record-setting number of three-hundred-and-fifty-seven boats in attendance. Forrest Wachholz caught the Laser standard show when Matti Muru placed fourth and top Canadian in Radial fleet. Arie Moffat and Pat Wilson secured a win in 420 fleet while skiff sailors Andrew Moreno and Eric Lyall took home the title in the 29er fleet. Gabriel Verrier Paquette, Canadian Sailing team member, secured the second spot overall in RS:X 9.5 fleet behind Ignacio Berenguer.
Britannia Yacht Club played host to forty boats at Shark World Championships with the Canadian captain David Foy, crew Jamie Foy and David O’Sullivan claiming the overall championship title.
